FEATHER SHADOW
In the early days of the pandemic I didn’t go much further than the front yard. Fortunately, we live on enough land to wander around a bit. I found this large hawk feather and brought it inside, stuck it in a vase sitting on an old small table near a window where I read. In the morning the sun comes beaming in the windows on that side of the house and I was in awe of the even more beautiful and graceful shadow produced by the feather along with the geometric shapes of the slats in the table and window panes. I thought of Plato’s cave allegory, i.e. what we see as reality might just be a limited illusion. At the time I would have never imagined I would remain sequestered in that cave for so long.
